this is a great bill i have a question is there a way to change law to have adult offenders on a adult page other than megans, because chlid offenders should be posted on this one not adult offenders. thank you for your time.
There is a man living a few houses down from me that has been convicted of agg. sexual assault of a eight year old girl. He has to little girls living with him. I need to know if this is legal or should I do something. I fear for the safety of these children. Please respond. Thank you.
to april’s previous post…contact your local police and describe the situation (your neighbor/registered sex offender residing with two little girls) to them. Those little girls will more than likely thank you, at least in spirit. As adults, we must NOT idly stand by and do nothing when we see something amiss. Our failure to act, our complacency, our assumption that someone else will see this ans surely do something aids and assists the perpetrators of these horrible crimes.
SO PLEASE DO SOMETHING! IN SUSPECTED ABUSE OF ANY SORT AGAINST CHILDREN!@!!!
DO SOMETHIING!!!
your thoughtful actions, might just save an innocent child from the lifelong terrors and nightmares of continued abuse, or you might save the child from the cruel hands of a killer.
Does anyone have first-hand experience with a sex offender or possible sex offender? I do (a family member), and until you deal with it first-hand, you can not even begin to understand the mental illness and struggle behind it. While I completely agree that sex offenders are an unwanted thing in this community, the public has made it extremely difficult for the ones who made a mistake and want to change their lives. No one is perfect and it truly is a mental illness — one that none of us will ever be able to comprehend ourselves — we will always be outsiders. Trying to understand and get the person help, that it one thing that is needed more in the community.
I read Michele’s letter, and I am glad to hear that someone else has a family member. We are afraid of the life our member will have to live under because of this charge. When you have a love one who is accused of this charge, it is hard to turn you back on that person, because he also is a loved one. You want to help him, but sometimes have a really hard time knowing how to help? In my heart I do understand how others feel and I have children of my own. And can understand how we need to protect them. But I am un-able to turn my back on my Brother.
My question is this…what does this adam walsh law have to do with immigration and citizens services? why does my name have to be sent to them to see if it clears? lol i have a child and he is 20 i am by no means a threat to children and neither is my husband. so im curious as to what this has to do with getting immigrant visa for my husband considering im an american citizen.
How is it that a convicted child molester, who is classified as a level 3 sex offender, come out of jail, fight his classification and get it changed to level 2, then continue to go to “therapy” and manage to be re-classified to level 1 and a low-no risk??????
The Adam Walsh Act can be commended for its effort to nationalize the registry. But it falls short with regard to registration and tier levels. Not all offenders pose a serious threat or even a moderate threat to society. It has done nothing to separate people by offense and violence. There is no real classification here, offenders are placed into a tier level based on convictions. A conviction for 1 crime in 1 state may not even be a crime under another state’s laws. People, we are being decieved if we think that we can tell who is a threat and who is not under the Adam Walsh Act. There is no psychogical testing done to sort out those with abnormal arousals to children or things, versus those with normal arousals to normal things (like peeing in the woods, marryied couple caught making love on a beach or skinny dipping, teenage sex outside of the ‘legal lines’ drawn by the law) etc. These are some serious flaws that have not been fixed under WALSH.
I am a sex offender. I made a stupid mistake, once! I learned from it. I do not have a mental illness. My charge was having sex with a 14 year old girl when i was 22. I didnt know her age. she was drinking at a bar with her mother. she even had two cases pending for the same charge with two other guys at the time i was charged. I DO take full responsibility for my actions and realize that i have made a mistake. There was no sick or heiness in my crime. just a mistake. I now will pay for it the rest of my life as will my daughter and my wife. Not every sex offender is a sick, dangerous person. some have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. We are human too. every case is different.

The identities of the convicted predators MUST be made public, otherwise the knowlegde of living among them is useless. This should be for ALL levels.
