The statistics say that one out of every three to four girls has been sexually assaulted by the age of 18. One boy out of every six will be abused by the age of 18. Although we have some reports and convictions to base these statistics on, they are actually not accurate. So many cases of child molestation go unreported each year, so we really cannot estimate the real numbers. The FBI reports that the National Institute for Mental Health found that only 1% to 10% of victims ever tell that they were abused. Boys report far less than girls.
- The average child molester will molest fifty girls before being caught and convicted.
- A child molester that seeks out boys will molest 150 boys before being caught and convicted and he will commit at least 280 sexual crimes in his lifetime.
- The standard pedophile will commit 117 sexual crimes in their lifetime.
- Most sexual abuse happens between the ages of 7 and 13.
- There are over 491,720 registered sex offenders in the United States.
- 80,000 to 100,000 of the above offenders are missing.
- Molesters known by the family or victim are the most common abusers. The “Acquaintance Molester†accounts for 70-90% of reported cases.

I’m upset with one of our senators here in VA, I don’t know his name but he wants to decrese the time limit for child molestors to 0-5 years. I’m 13 and I think thats wrong. I’m doing a project on child molestation so they can increse the sentence to 30-life cuz once a child molester always a child molester!!!!

I am also doing an assignment for school on sexual abuse. I have been a victim of sexual abuse and I find myself reading about and thinking to myself that I am not a usual case. It says on one website that i read that abuse can start as early as five to seven years old but as far as i know it started when i was three. But i guess im normal for having all the symptoms of it. My life was changed forever from what my abuser did and i wanted everyone to know. I wonder daily what I would be like to this day if it didn’t happen. I know I would be a different person but by how much? I just wish some of my questions could be answered.

The number of child moleters are increasing more and more every year. Even if they get caught they are realeased back on the streets. I know what its like to have to go to court a number of times to put someone like that behind bars because i had to do it when i was 9 and a half years old. The person who did it to me was very close to me and i never understood and still dont understand why they chose me. well he got sentenced to 8 years in prison and got out after only serving 4 and he got out 7 days before my 15th birthday…..i have seen him twice since he got out and it still hurts. i was reading on the news the other day about a guy who molested 9 children and was sentenced to 25 years in prison and now they may be letting him out after only serving not even 5 years…..its wrong becuse the children that he hurt have to live with it forever and spend all their life wondering why it happened to them and its almost like the parole board or whoever lets these people back on the streets doesnt even care. its not right and something needs to be done.

Child molesters, sexual predators, perverts, incestuous adults who prey on the young defenseless little children should not be allowed to get out of jail - period!
They do not change, no matter what some bleeding hearts say - we can’t treat them so nice as if they’re regular citizens. They are not! They made a choice. They knew exactly what they were doing. Children or anyone who is a victim of these type predators should not have to pay a price for such low life.

if you molest some one once it doesnt mean you’ll always do it again and what if they were realy not guilty so they’ll have 30 years for somthing they didn’t do that’s horrible and cruel
